The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Fountain University, Osogbo, is a premier research and academic unit providing a platform for research, training, and policy analysis on peace and security issues informing policy and practice nationally and globally.

Certificate
Certificate in Peace & Security Studies
3 – 4.5 months Security / Paramilitary Personnel

Requirements: Minimum 2 O/Level credits + at least 5 years' experience in the peace/security sector. Open to members of security and paramilitary agencies and other professionals seeking capacity-building.

Postgraduate Diploma
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Peace & Security Studies
Full-time: 2–3 sems | Part-time: 3 sems HND holders eligible

Requirements: Minimum Third Class Honours from any recognised university, or a good HND. All candidates must satisfy O/Level requirements for undergraduate admission.

Professional Master's
Professional Master's in Peace & Security Studies
Full-time: 3 sems | Part-time: 4 sems 3 years' experience required

Requirements: Minimum Third Class Honours + at least 3 years' relevant experience. HND holders with PGD in related disciplines are eligible. Members of security organisations have an added advantage.

M.Sc.
M.Sc. in Peace & Security Studies
Full-time: min. 3 sems | Part-time: min. 4 sems 2nd Class Lower minimum

Requirements: Minimum Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from any recognised university. All candidates must satisfy O/Level requirements for undergraduate admission.

M.Phil.
M.Phil. in Peace & Security Studies
4 – 6 semesters Dissertation + 2 seminars required

Requirements: Master's degree (50–54.9% weighted average) in Peace & Security or related discipline; or 2nd Class Lower first degree. Minimum 5 O/Level credits including English & Maths. Must pass two seminar presentations (min. 60%) to progress to PhD.

M.Phil./Ph.D.
M.Phil./Ph.D. in Peace & Security Studies
Total: 8 semesters (2 coursework + 6 PhD) Research proposal defence required

Requirements: Master's degree (55–59.9% weighted average); candidates from other disciplines need ≥ 60%. Or 2nd Class Lower first degree. Minimum 5 O/Level credits. Students not meeting PhD requirements exit with the M.Phil. degree.

Ph.D.
Ph.D. in Peace & Security Studies
Full-time: 6–10 sems | Part-time: 8–12 sems Master's ≥ 60% required

Requirements: Master's degree (≥ 60% weighted average) in Peace & Security or related field; or M.Phil. with ≥ 60%. First degree minimum Second Class Lower. 5 O/Level credits including English & Maths.

All shortlisted candidates shall write a qualifying examination and undergo a screening exercise conducted by the Institute.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the website of the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, Fountain University, Osogbo. We give the glory of this accomplishment to Almighty Allah (SWT) and the inspiration and unwavering support of our indefatigable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, fspsp.

We are committed to advancing knowledge and understanding of peace and security issues, as well as contributing to the development of effective policies and practices that promote peace and security nationally and globally. The establishment of the Institute is considered very timely at this challenging phase of our nation when insecurity has become a daily concern.

We look forward to collaborating with partners and stakeholders. We appreciate the contributions of the leadership of the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) for collaborating with University management on the establishment of this Institute. We have come on board boldly and we shall make our bold marks to peace and security in Nigeria and worldwide, In Sha Allahu.
